Camp is in session! With the guidance of our Lead Teacher and Teaching Fellows, our Camp participants are building a vibrant community where creativity and collaboration can thrive. Check out these highlights from the first two weeks of Camp!
We’re exploring two major themes at Camp this year: accepting yourself fully and supporting your community. During the first week at Camp, participants used games, artmaking activities, and generative brainstorming exercises to get to know one another and connect over their interests and intentions for the summer.

Our Teaching Fellows also designed and led participants in block printing and abstract texture painting workshops. On Science Day, participants tapped into the scientific magic of light and color by conducting experiments to examine natural phenomena like rainbows and electromagnetic radiation.
This past week, participants had the chance to craft ceramic sculptures with guest teacher Susan Dane; enter the “Empathic Universe” of artist Saya Woolfalk at the Museum of Arts and Design; and travel between parallel worlds by creating branching narratives and considering the outcomes of character choices in Kelly Fernández’s Manu (with thanks to Scholastic for donating copies of the graphic novel for all our Campers)!

We can’t wait to bring you more news from Camp and from our Summer Institute, which kicks off today.
If you’re in New York City, you can also RSVP for our Summer Showcase on August 14 at 5:30 PM at CARA at this link!
