It was a sunny day in Korverssu. The teacher gave us a 10-minute break, which was clearly needed since I don't know who had the brilliant idea to schedule me for math first thing in the morning. I stand up and start walking toward my best friend, Feshta, who was sitting at the back. Ugh, I hate assigned seating. Suddenly we hear gun shots. Our teacher had the "Albert Einstein from Temu" idea to tell us to get under the tables.
You can choose between:
[[Get under the tables]]
[[Run]]The shooting continued. My breathing was starting to get uneven, but I reminded myself to breathe. I decided to run away anyway because I knew I wasn't safe here.
"HEY, GET BACK HERE!" Which wasn't really smart, because why are you yelling during a school shooting? That was the last thing I heard before exiting the room.
[[next]]I run cautiously, but without looking back. Tears are falling as I observe the other women being mistreated.
"We just want to be educated, what is so wrong about it?" I think.
Suddenly, a man covered my mouth and dragged me to a secure area.
"What do you think you are doing?" the man said.
"I..."
"You can get yourself hurt or worse, killed." He didn't yell but his tone had an edge to it.
"I... you... why aren't you doing something to me?"
"Like what? Hit you? Punish you for trying to save yourself from this horrible government?"
I look at him curiously. That was a bold thing to do here as a female since they never fail to remind us of our "place".
"I have a sister" he said.
Now it all make sense.
[[ continue]]
I began running as though there were no tomorrow.
[[next]] Rat-ta-ta-ta
I try to run away again, but the guy holds my wrist.
I turn to look at him. "What are you doing?"
"What are YOU doing?" he says, worried.
"Runing away."
"Oh really? I thought you were going to start eating popcorn."
I roll my eyes.
He continues, "You will get yourself killed."
"But-" he cut me off before I could even finish.
"Come with me. You aren't even wearing a hijab."
Do you:
[[Follow him]] or [[Be stubborn]]
You chose to follow him. Your heart is racing with anticipation. "Why am I trusting this random guy?" You question yourself. Not because he has a sister that immediately made him a good person.
[[keep going]]"Why should I trust you? Not because you have a sister. You immediatly become a good person."
"True." He said calmy and that calmness unsettled me. He continues talking while looking directly into my dark brown eyes.
"I knew this was going to happen. That's why I voluntered to be a one of them... or at least make them think I am. I promised my mother before she passed that I was going to protect her and that I wasn't going to let this corupt goverment influence me. I know you dont belive me and I dont blame you. but I truly want to help. and I can only do that if you let me."
I stay there silence for a while. "Okay," I finally said.
[[keep going]]He led me to a room and closed the door behind me. There was a bunch of girls sitting on the floor sobbing silently. One of them stood up and approached us.
"Oh brother, you are here," she looks at me and smiles, "Hey."
I try to smile back. "Hello," I said shyly.
She placed her hand on my shoulder. "Oh sweetie, you need a hijab" she said, in a motherly tone even though we were almost the same age. She pointed to her right, where many different colors scatter on a table. "Grab any one you like."
